Pink was born Alecia Beth Moore in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, on September 2, 1979. A regular on the Philadelphia club scene by her early teens, she sang backing vocals for local hip-hop group schools of thought before joining R&B group Basic Instinct. That led to her being recruited to help from the trio choice, and a record deal with L.A. Reid's and Babyface's LaFace label soon followed. Although the group soon disbanded, Pink had impressed L.A. Reid sufficiently enough to earn a solo deal. Released in 2000, her debut album "Can't Take Me Home" went double-platinum, thanks to the hit singles "There You Go" and "Most Girls" In 2001, Pink teamed up with Lil Kim, Mya, and Christina Aguilera on a cover of "Lady Marmalade," a chart-topping track featured in the movie "Moulin Rouge!" Her second album, "M!ssundaztood" saw Pink move into a heavier, less R&B direction, propelled by the smash hit "Get The Party Started" the album was a worldwide success, eventually selling more than 5 million copies in the U.S. alone. 2003's "Try This" album, however, fared less well in the states, although it did produce a string of international hits. But a Newlywed Pink- she married a motocross racer Carey Hart in Costa Rica- roared back in early 2006 with the album "I'm Not Dead" which contained such hit singles as "Stupid Girls" and "Who Knew." The worldwide chart-topper "So What" was the lead single from 2008 multi-platinum "Funhouse" album, which also produced such hits as "Sober" and "Please Don't Leave Me" in 2010, her "Greatest Hits...So Far!!! Album gave her a second U.S. chart-topping single in "Raise Your Glass."
