Greetings my friend! We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future! The absurd opening narration by TV psychic The Amazing Criswell sets the scene for a movie so terrible it is now considered a classic! Generally considered to be one of the most awful movies in history "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is infamous for it's continuity errors, plot holes, bad acting, inane dialog and hamfisted special effects, written and directed by the eccentric Ed Wood (left) who was immortalized by Johnny Depp in the 1994 Biopic by Tim Burton- the movie was shot over 5 days in 1959 after distribution was secured. By then, it had been retitled from the original "Grave Robbers From Outer Space." This movie is riddled with absurd flaws and errors, from graveyard tombstones that wobble, to flying saucers clearly suspended by string. Bela Lugosi is billed as the star, although he had died before production began. Wood used footage of the veteran horror star from an earlier, unreleased project- and then hired his wife's chiropractor to complete additional scenes. A much taller and younger man, his scenes were filmed with his face constantly shielded by a cape! Other cast members include Vampire, a companion of James Dean and hostess of a low-budget horror movie show on TV in Los Angeles and giant Sweedish wrestler Tor Johnson. In the five decades since it's release, "Plan 9 from Outer Space" has graduated from a quirky oddity on late-night tv to a cult classic, spawning DVD releases video games, musicals and stage productions... and has achieved mythical status as the worst movie ever made!
