Born in Cote Saint-Luc Quebec, on March 22, 1931, William Shatner is a classically trained actor whose early credits include performing Shakespeare at Canada's Stratford Shakespeare Festival. He went from "The Immortal Bard" to children's TV when he landed a regular role as Ranger Bob on "The Canadian Howdy Doody Show" following minor TV and film roles, he was cast opposite Yul Brynner in the 1958 movie "The Brothers Karamazov." He racked up a lengthy of TV credits in the early 1960s, from"The Twilight Zone" to "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." following recurring roles on the likes of "Dr. Kildare". In 1966, he was cast in the defining role of his career- Captain James T. Kirk on "Star Trek." Incredibly, for a show that has since been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for having the latest number of spin-offs from a TV series "Star Trek" struggled in the ratings and was canceled after three seasons! The early 1970s brought lean times for the typecast Shatner, who was reduced to game show appearances and guest roles on shows such as "Columbo" and "Kung Fu." He returned to the role of Kirk for an animated series of "Star Trek" in 1973 and in 1975, he was cast alongside Doug McClure on the TV series "Barbary Coast." Meanwhile, thanks to syndication, "Star Trek" had developed a cult following, and in 1979 the cast was reunited for "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" It was a huge Hit, and over the next 15 years Shatner starred in six more "Star Trek" movies (One of which he also directed.) Following a four-year stint as police sergeant "T.J Hooker" he hosted the drama series "Rescue 911" for many years, and earned him an Emmy nomination for his role as Big Giant Head on the hit sitcom "3rd Rock From The Sun" he won an Emmy for his portrayal of lawyer Denny Crane on "The Practice" and then a Golden Globe for playing the same character on the spin-off "Boston Legal." An author and an award-winning horse breeder, the four times-married Shatner- who is reportedly a very wealthy man. Thanks in large part to his priceline TV Commercials- has returned to primetime TV with the sitcom "$*! My Dad Says."
