One of the most successful careers in the history of Pop music began with a little girl singing to a mouse! Britney Spears was only 8 years old when she first auditioned for "The Mickey Mouse Club" tv show. Although she impressed the producers, she was turned down because of her young age. Over the next two years, she starred in the off-broadway show "Ruthless" then, three years later, she tried out once more for "The MMC" and this time she made it! Born in Kentwood, Louisiana, on December 2, 1981, Britney Jean Spears was an 11-year-old veteran of TV commercials and stage shows when she became the youngest performer on the Disney TV series "The Mickey Mouse Club" The cast also included Christina Aguilera and future 'N Sync stars Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez. After two years on the show, Britney headed home to Louisiana. But she still had dreams of stardom, and at 15, she began making the rounds at New York record labels. An audition at Jive Records led to a record deal, propelled by a smash-hit title track, 1999's "...Baby One More Time." Quickly became one of the most successful debut albums of all time! She swept the 1999 MTV Europe awards, and her follow-up albums "Oops! ...I Did It Again" and "Britney" were also global hits. When "In The Zone" was released in 2003, she became the first female artist in history to have her first four albums debut at the top of the U.S. charts. She made her movie debut with 2002's "Crossroads." After her three-year romance with fellow pop idol, Justin Timberlake fizzled out, she stunned her fans with a whirlwind Las Vegas marriage to a childhood friend. The impulsive union was quickly annulled, and in late 2004 she wed dancer Kevin Federline. The marriage was high-profile and short-lived, ending in a divorce and a custody battle over their two children. By 2007, a troubled Britney was single and in the middle of a painful, and a very public, emotional meltdown. Despite her personal woes, she still enjoyed major success with 2007's "Blackout" album. By the time her "Circus" album was released in late 2008, Britney seemed to have emerged from her tailspin. Propelled by the worldwide chart-topping single "Womanizer" the subsequent tour were hugely successful.
