Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on November 28, 1984, Mary Elizabeth Winstead was raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She joined the Internation Children's Choir, played of "Romeo and Juliet" and appeared in a number of the Mountain West Ballet's annual versions of "The Nutcracker." She studied with the Joffrey Ballet School in New York before landing a role on Broadway in the Donny Osmond run of "Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." She made her tv debut on "Touched By An Angel" before being cast as a regular on the soap opera "Passions" in 1999. A starring role on the short-lived TV series "Wolf Lake" was followed by the 2002 TV movie "Monster Island." Her film career was boosted by the 2005 Disney Movie "Sky High" and after appearing in "The Ring Two" she starred in the horror movie "Final Destination 3." The 2006 ensemble movie "Bobby" was followed by high-profile roles in "Live Free Or Die Hard" and "Death Proof" which was auteur Quentin Tarantino's contribution to "Grindhouse" a double-feature collaboration with "Planet Terror" director Robert Rodriguez. She was able to call on her years of ballet training for her starring role in 2008's "Make It Happen" a dance movie that went straight to DVD in the U.S. Having screen-tested for the role of Wonder Woman in a proposed adaptation of the "Justice League" comic books, Winstead landed the role of Ramona Victoria Flowers in the comic book spinoff Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.
