Angelina Jolie Angelina Jolie was born in Los Angeles in June 5, 1975, the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. She attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute from the age 11, and later studied film at NYU. Early in her career, she worked as a model and also appeared in a number of music videos. She starred in the low-budget 1993 sci-fi movie "Cyborg 2" and starred opposite British actor Johnny Lee Miller in 1995's "Hackers" the couple married in 1996, although the union was short-lived. Her starring role in the 1998 HBO biopic "GIA" brought her acclaim and acres of press coverage, and her superb performance the following year in "Girl, Interrupted" earned her the best-supporting actress Oscar and her third Golden Globe award. Subsequent work ranged from the dark thriller "The Bone Collector" to the sci-fi camp of "Sky Camp" of Sky Captain and the world of Tomorrow" from the epic "Alexander" to the animated "Shark Tale" She established her action movie credentials when she twice starred as videogame Heroine Lara Croft. Her second marriage to "Pushing Tin" co-star Billy Bob Thornton, ended in divorce in 2003, leaving Angelina to raise their adopted son, who was born in Cambodia in 2001. Angelina then adopted a second child, an orphaned Ethiopian Girl, in 2005. That same year, she became romantically involved with Brad Pitt after they starred together in "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and in 2006, the couple welcomed the birth of a daughter. Following the adoption of a Vietnamese boy in 2007, Angelina gave birth to twins in 2008. Around the family, the work has certainly not suffered- Angelina received the Academy Award nomination for 2008's "Changeling" A noted humanitarian, she has been a goodwill ambassador for the united nations high commission for refugees since 2001, is a member of the council on foreign relations, and is the recipient of numerous humanitarian awards.
