Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on July 24, 1982, Anna Paquin was four years old when he relocated from Canada to New Zealand with her family. Although the only acting experience was playing a skunk in a school play, in 1991, she was chosen from among5,000 young hopefuls to star in "The Piano." Her acclaimed screen debut was rewarded with the Academy Award for best-supporting actress. Making the 11-year-old the second-youngest Oscar winner in history after Tatum O'Neal in "Paper Moon." After a lengthy break, she returned to the screen in 1996 with roles in "Jane Eyre" and "Fly Away Home" and the following year portrayed Queen Isabella II in "Amistad." By this point, she was attending school and living in Los Angeles. During her teens, she appeared in a number of movies, including "A Walk On The Moon," "Hurlyburly" and "She's All That." In 2000, she starred as storm in the blockbuster "X-Men" a role that she has revisited in two smash-hit sequels. She made her stage debut in 2001, in an off-broadway production of "The Glory Of Living." which earned her a theater world award. The following year, she made her debut on the London stage in "This Is Our Youth" and she continued to rack up screen credits, in movies such as "Buffalo Soldiers" and "The Squid and The Whale." In 2007, the cable TV adaptation of "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" brought her Emmy, Golden Globe and screen actors guild award nominations. The following year, the first series of the vampire drama "True Blood" debuted on HBO. Anna's starring role as the telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse brought her an immediate cult following, and a Golden Globe for best actress in a television drama series.
