Jimmy Page Born on January 9, 1944, in West London, Jimmy Page was only 13 years old when he appeared on a BBC talent show, playing guitar in a skiffle band. At 15, he was recruited into the lineup of Neil Christian and The Crusaders, with whom he toured for a couple of years. During a spell at art college, Page began to pick up session work, adding guitar to hits by the likes of The Kinks and The Who, until he was one of the U.K's Top session men. In 1966, he joined The Yardbirds, initially on bass, then sharing lead guitar duties with Jeff Beck following Beck's departure, the group continued as a quartet. When the other members left, Page recruited Robert Plant, John Bonham, and John Paul Jones to fulfill Scandinavian tour commitments. Soon, the new lineup had been renamed, Led Zeppelin. Page's innovative guitar work and studio production technique helped propel Led Zeppelin to megastardom. Following the 1980 death of drummer Bonham, the group disbanded, although the surviving members have reunited for the occasional benefit gig. Page and Plant have collaborated on a number of subsequent projects, including recording together in The Honeydrippers. In the mid-1980s, Page joined forces with Paul Rodgers in The Firm, and later worked with David Coverdale, prior to that, he had worked on the soundtrack for the movie "Death Wish II." He has since worked with everyone from The Rolling Stones to Diddy to The Foo Fighters. Awarded the order of the British empire in 2005 for his charity work. Page's latest project is the documentary "It Might Get Loud" in which he stars alongside The Edge and Jack White.
