Born in Ballymenia, Northern Ireland, on June 7, 1952, Liam Neeson telephoned a Belfast theater on a whim and asked for a job. He gave his age and his height, and because they were looking to cast someone of that description, the 6'4" amateur boxer was cast in the role... over the telephone! By the early 1980s, he was racking up movie credits, with roles in the likes of "Excalibur" "Krull" and "The Bounty." Following supporting roles in "The Mission" and "A Prayer For The Dying." He relocated to Hollywood landing roles in "Suspect," "The Good Mother," The Dead Pool and "Next of Kin." "Darkman" in which Neeson starred as a disfigured superhero, was a hit in the summer of 1990. In 1993 he starred in "Schindler's List," which earned him Oscar and Golden nominations, before starring in movies as diverse as the swashbuckling "Bob Roy" and the gritty drama "Nell" earning another Golden Globe nomination for "Michael Collins." He married his "Nell" co-star Natasha Richardson in 1994. The pair have made their home and raised a family in New York, and have both enjoyed great success on stage- Liam earned Tony Award nominations for roles in "Anna Christie" and "The Crucible" Natasha won a tony for her portrayal of Sally Bowles in "Cabaret" Neeson also found time to star in everything from "Les Miserables" to "Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace," He was honored by Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, who made him an officer of the order of the British empire in 1999. His subsequent work has run the gamut from "K-19: The Window maker" to "Gangs of New York" from "Love Actually" to "Kingdom of Heaven" and "Batman Returns" and he earned another Golden Globe nomination for "Kinsey." He is set to play Abraham Lincoln in an upcoming biopic by Steven Speilberg.
