Born Taylor Alison Swift in eastern Pennsylvania, on December 13, 1989, she became obsessed with country music an an early age. By the time she was 10, Taylor was performing in every karaoke contest, country fair and festival she could find. The following year, she made the pilgrimage to Nashville to drop her demo tape off at every record label in town, and at 14, she persuaded the family to relocate to the country music capital so she could pursue her dream. A prolific songwriter even then, she inked a publishing deal and was soon signed to the fledging, Big Machine record label. Her debut single. "Tim McGraw" hit the country top 10- and by the time she met the song's subject, on live tv during her ACM awards appearance, she was a multi-platinum sensation. Her self-titled debut album spent 8 weeks at the top of the country charts, selling more than 3 copies and earning her a best new artist Grammy nomination. Released in late 2008, her sophmore album, "Fearless" debuted at the top of the Billboard charts. Days later, the teen queen of country was named "Favorite Female artist- country" at the American music awards.
