Russell Brand. Born in Essex, England, on June 4, 1975, his perforance as Fat Sam in a stage production of "Bugsy Malone" earned Russell Brand a scholarship to the Italia Conti Academy, a London stage school whose alumni include Noel Lewis. He went on to study at London's drama centre, the same drama school that produced the likes of Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth. Following early british TV work, he began to concentrate on stand-up comedy and landed a job as a vee jay on MTV Europe- although his controversial on screen antics soon earned his dismissal. A comedy series on a U.K. satellite channelled to more tv hosting work. By the time he returned to MTV Europe with his own chat show in 2006, Russell Brand was one of the best-known faces on British tv. He launched his own BBC radio show, and began to write a weekly soccer column in Bristish daily newspaper. His first major film role came with 2007's "St. Trinian's" He received glowing reviews for his role in 2008 "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" which led to a starring role opposite Adam Sandler in the Christmas 2008 movie "Bedtime Stories" having successfully hosted the 2008 MTV video music awards, Russell looks poised to repeat his U.K success stateside.
