The James Bond themes. Monty Norman's distinctive "James Bond Theme" has featured in every "Official" 007 movie since the franchise began in 1962 with "Dr. No" but the series is also renowed for featuring title theme songs that are as eagerly anticipated as the James Bond movies themselves. The title of a Hames Bond movie is usually a ticket to pop chart success, and over the years the songs have run the gamut from ballad to thundering rock. Tom Jones took the title theme to 1965's "Thunderball" onto the charts. Legend has it that the welsh powerhouse fained while recording the song's final lung-busting high note. Fellow Welsh native Shirley Bassey sang three title themes, following the classic "Goldfinger" with Diamonds are forever" and "Moonraker." "Nobody Does It Better" (Carly Simon) and "For Your Eyes Only" (Sheena Easton) both earned song Oscars. Other female singers featured in the series range from Nancy Sinatra to Madonna, taking in Lulu, Rita Coolidge, Tina Turner, Sheryl Crow, and Gladys Knight along the way. Featured bands include Paul McCartney & Wings, a-ha and Garbage. Duran Duran gave the Bond movies their first chart-topper when "A View To A Kill" hit the top spot in 1985. Following Chris Cornell's "You Know My Name" from 2006's "Casino Royale" The 22nd Official James Bond movie "Quantum of Solace" features the first duet in the series, Jack White and Alicia Keys teaming up for "Another Way To Die."
