Fleetwood Mac was formed in 1967 by british bluesmen Mick Fleetwood on drums and guitarists Peter Green and Jeremy Spencer. The band was named as a way to entice bassist John Movie to join, which he did shortly after the group's debut. Following the addition of guitarist Danny Krwan, hits such as "Albatross" "Man Of The World" "Oh Well" and "Green Mannalishi" made Fleetwood Mac one of Europe's top bands. The band's success was married by the deteriorating health of Peter Green, who quit the band in 1970. Shortly after marrying McVie, Christine Perfect singer and keyboard player with Chicken Shack, was recruited after Spencer abandoned Fleetwood Mac to join a religious sect, the band underwent a series of personnel changes and legal wrangles before relocating to California. Reduced to a trio of Fleetwood and the Movies, the band recruited guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and his girlfriend, the singer Stevie Knicks thanks to hits such as "Say You Love Me" and "Rhiannon" the band topped the charts, with 1975s "Fleetwood Mac" album, but success was accompanied by major emotional upheavals. Fleetwood divorced the wife he would later remarry, the McVies split up, and the eight-year relationship of Buckingham and Nicks ended, incredibly the group remained intact- and released 1977's "Rumors" one of the most successful records in history, topping the U.S. charts for 31 weeks! Following the albums "Tusk" "Mirage" and "Tango In The Midnight" Buckingham quit. Various permutations, including the likes of Rick Vito and Billy Burnette, continued to record and tour. A full reunion in 1997 took Fleetwood, Knicks, Buckingham and the McVies on a major tour and back to the top of the album charts for the first time in 15 years with "The Dance" forty years in the making, rock greatest soap opera continues, with speculation that the band's next incarnation may even feature Sheryl Crow as a replacement for Christine McVie!
