Born in England, in Dartford, Kent on July 26, 1943, Michael Phillip Jagger was still on a schoolboy when he made his first tv appearances. His father, an expert and lecturer on physical fitness and a leading authority on basketball, had been hired as a consultant on a BBC Tv sports series, and he enlisted the aid of his eldest son to demonstrate the finer points of rock-climbing and canceling. Mick went on to study at the London School of Economics, but dropped out to pursue a music career with The Rolling Stones. By the mid-1960s, The Rolling Stones were the most outrageous and controversial band in rock- and one of the most successful. Four decades on- despite the well-documented excesses. The brushes with the law and the departure of founding members- The Stones still roll, continuing to lay claim to the title "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll band in the world" Away from the band, Mick has pursued other interests, including a sporadic solo career and collaborations with everyone from David Bowie to The Jacksons his movie career began with "Performance" and the lead role in "Ned Kelly" in 1970. He returned to the screen with 1992's "Freejack" and has continued to act when the mood takes him. And although he is one of rock's most notorious outlaws, he also has his own film production company, is heavily involved the business side of The Rolling Stones and was knighted by Britain's Queen Elizabeth in 2003.
