Born in San Luis Obispo, California on October 18, 1987 Zachary David Alexander Efron began acting and singing at an early age. And appearing in a number of high school productions. Recommended to an agent by his drama teacher, he made his screen debut in a 2002 episode of the sci-fi tv series "Firefly" going on to appear the likes of "ER" "The Guardian" and the tv movie "Miracle Run" by 2005, he was a regular cast member on the series "Summerland" and appeared on such primetime hit shows as "CSI: Miami" and "Navy NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service." The Disney Channel original movie "High School Musical" which premeired in January 2006, catapulted Zac to stardom 7.7 million viewers tuned in to the premiere broadcast. The soundtrack topped the album charts, and was the year best-seller. By the end of 2006, Zac was the biggest teen star in America. The following year, he cemented popularity by starring the movie version of "Hairspray" with John Travolta, Michelle Pfeifer and Christopher Walken. The "High School Musical 2" movie debuted to an audience of over 17 million in the U.S. and has so far been ben by 88 million viewers worldwide, while his offscreen romance with "High School Musical" leading lady Vanessa Hudgens became a media sensation, with a third "High School Musical" in the works, as well as a movie comedy alongside "Friends" star Matthew Perry, the future looks very bright indeed for Zac Efron!
