Born in Augusta, Georgia, on August 11, 1953, Terry Bollea played bass in a number of Florida rock bands. His imposing frame making him a natural for wrestling, and by 1977 he was fighting professionally. He wrestled under a number of ring names, but by the time he joined the Worldwide Wrestling Federation. In 1979, he was Hulk Hogan. In those early years of his career, Hogan was the villain that fans loved to hate, his notoriety earning him a starring role in 1982, "Rocky III" movie. He was a sensation wrestling in Japan, and by the time he won his first WWF world title in 1984, he was being promoted as the "Good Guy" and had become a hero to millions. He was the biggest box-office draw in wrestling history, generating huge pay-per-view receipts and host of merchandising spin-offs. By the early 1990s, he was a household name, starring in such movies as "Suburban Commando" "Mr. Nanny" and "Thunder In Paradise" which spawned a tv series. His subsequent credits include a number of low-budget action vehicles, as well as lighter fare, including the "Spy Hard" spoof and "Muppets From Space." He won his sixth WWF world title in 2002. He also won six titles wrestling in the rival WCW Federation, where, clad in black, he was the villainous Hollywood Hogan, leader of the New World Order trio of wrestlers. In 2005, introduced by his friend Sylvester Stallone, Hogan was inducted into the WWE hall of fame. That same year, his reality tv series "Hogan Knows Best" debuted on VH1 with the channel's largest-ever audience for a series premiere. The show, which has been a success throughout North America, Europe, and Australia features "The Hulkster" wife Linda, their son, Nick, and daughter Brooke, who has used the exposure to launch a career as a pop star.
