Born in Santa Monica, California, on June 27, 1975, Tobias Vincent Maguire began acting in his teens, appearing in TV commercials and playing small roles on such TV shows as "General Hospital" "Blossom" "Roseanne" "Jake and The Fatman" and "Eerie, Indiana" he met Leonardo DiCaprio when they both auditioned for the TV show "Parenthood" and they struck up a friendship that continues to this day. The lead went to Leo, although Tobey made a couple of guest appearances on the show. They worked together again in 1993's "This Boy's Life" a starring vehicle for Dicaprio. Tobey's career began to take off following 1997's "The Ice Storm" and he went on to star in "Pleasantville" "The Cider House Rules" and "Wonder Boys" The blockbuster release of the comic book adaptation "Spider-Man" in 2002 rocketed Tobey to superstardom. The following year, he cemented that status with the box office smash "Seabiscuit" a movie on which he was also executive producer. Two "Spider-Man" sequels have kept him high on Hollywood's A-List and made him a wealthy man. Meanwhile, he has developed a passion for poker, and in 2004, he took the $95,480 first prize in a casino tournament. In 2006, Tobey and Fiance Jennifer became parents for the first time, with the birth of daughter Ruby.
