America Ferrera Born in Los Angeles to Honduran parents on April 18, 1984, America Georgine Ferrera has been acting since she was 7 years old, she signed with a small telent agency when she was 16, and began the rounds of auditions. The following year, she got her first big break when she was cast in the Disney Channel TV movie "Gotta Kick it Up" That led to the starring role in the HBO production "real Women have Curves" appearences on TV shows such as "Touched By An Angel" and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" were followed by a string of films, including two that debuted on the same day in 2005-the skateboarding movie "Lords of Dogtown" and the romantic comedy "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants." America's rise to the top was completed when she was cast in the title role of the ABC series "Ugly Betty" co-produced by Salma Hayek and based on Yo Soy Betty, Lafea" The colombian telenovela that has spawned similar versions in countries from India to Mexico and from Israel to Russia, the show was one of the big hits of the fall 2006 TV season.
