The Backstreet Boys have sold more than 80 million records and established themselves as the most successful boy band in music history. Nick Carter's phenomenal rise to fame with the group also helped to jump-start the pop career of his younger brother Aaron, in the late 1990's. The two brothers recently teamed up with their twin, Angel-to star in the reality TV series "House of Carters" Nickolas Gene Carter was born in Jamestown , New York, on January 28, 1980 the eldest of five children. He began acting at an early age, landing a small role in the Johnny Depp movie "Edward Scissorhands" and following the family's movie to Florida, he became a featured vocalist at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers pregame shows. He also appeared on the "1992 New Original Amateur Hour" and acted in commercials for the likes of The Money Store and the Florida State Lottery. He was only 12 years old when he was recruited to the ranks of a new boy band that was being formed with an eventual lineup of Nick, A.J, McLean, Howie Dorough, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell, The Backstreet Boys spent two years gaining huge popularity in Europe before conquering America. But the turn of the millenium, they were one of the most successful bands in music history. In 2005, The Backstreet Boys returned from a three-year-hiatus during which time Nick released a solo album- with "Never Gone" an album that quickly went platinum. The following summer, the band was reduced to a quartet with the departure of Kevin Richardson. Meanwhile, Nick returned to acting, with roles in the sitcom "8 Simple Rules for Dating my Teenage Daughter" and the horror movie "The Hollow" he owns a very successful boat racing team, and has dated some of the world's most glamorous women. Nick's latest sideline has seen him team up with his four siblings for the reality TV show "House of Carters"
