She was studying literature in Paris when she was bitten by the acting bug and decided to concentrate on drama, work on french television led to her starring role in the 1999 movie "Venus Beauty Institute" which earned her a cesar- the national film award of France- as best newcomer. When British actress Emily Watson dropped out of the 2001 romantic comedy "Amelie" the title role went to Audrey. Her enchanting performance, combined with her elfin beauty, helped make the film a worldwide hit, and "Amelie" went on to garner five Oscar nominations and a host of international awards. She followed up with a series of films that showcased her range and versatility in "He Loves Me... He Loves Me Not" She played a trouble young woman obsessed with an older man. She made her english-language debut in the gritty drama "Dirty Pretty Things" and then starred in the romantic "A Very Long Engagement." Although Hollywood offers were pouring in, Audrey bided her time until the right vehicle came along. Her patience was rewarded when she was cast opposite Tom Hanks in the big-screen adaptation of the blockbuster book "The Davinci Code."
