In 2003, he played to 375,000 fans during a three-day stint at Knembworth in the United Kingdom with a further 3.5 million watching live on tV and on the internet. Last november he earned a place in the Guinness Book of Records when 1.6 million tickets to his world tour sold out in a day. He is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, yet Robbie Williams is virtually unknown in the United States and Canada- even though he lives in Los Angeles! Other than modest success with songs such as "Millenium" "Feel" and "Angels" he has so far failed to make an impact in North America, although Rock DJ did earn him an MTV music video. The son of a stand-up comedian, Robbie Williams was born in stoke-on-tent U.K on February 13, 1974, keenly involved in amateur dramatics from the age of 11, Robbie was only 16 when he answered a newspaper ad for a new boy group that was being formed. Take that stormed Europe's pop charts in the early 1990s with hits such as "Pray" "Babe" and "Relight My Fire." The boys took the best group category at the inaugural MTV Europe awards in 1994. By the following year, take that was poised to conquer America- but that summer, the group imploded! Growing weary of the teen scene, Robbie announced his decision to leave Take That after the next tour. But following a widely publicised wild weekend in the company of Oasis, he was ousted from the group. Continuing as a quartet, take that hit the U.S. top ten with "Back For Good" before calling it quits and disbanding. Over the next two years, Robbie's solo career appeared to have appeared to have been derailed by liegal wrangles and personal problems, with the tabloids chronicling every stagger and stutter. Byt by 1997, he was back in the ascendacy. "Angels" soared to the top of the U.K. charts followed by hits such as "Millennium" and "No Regrets." Platinum albums, a clutch of awards and sold-out concerts around the world followed. He even made his Hollywood debut in "De-Lovely" his global superstardom was confirmed at the end of 2004 when his "Greatest Hits" album debuted at No. 18 countries but not in North America!
