Arlo: Did you know the key to the Bastille is at Mount Vernon? Arlo: The Marques De Lafayette sent it as a token of esteem to President George Washington when the Bastille was demolished in 1789. Arlo: Made of cast iron and weighing more than a pound, Washington hung it in his central hallway, a place of honor. Arlo: Not much remains of the prison in Paris today*, but the key can still be seen at Mount Vernon. *Square Henri Galli Arlo: We should have a cookout tonight, in honor of Bastille Day! Janis: I wondered where this was leading.
