cat: and that's how I ended up here. it's like everyone's always trying to put you inside this little business shaped box...and the moment you step outside of that they lock you away. bird: I hear that. I was born in a pet shop in south philly. just me and my three brothers and sisters. I was sold as a birthday gift to an eight year old girl. named me penelope. she gave me a home. called me a pretty bird. I loved her. and she loved me. for a time. by the age of nine she'd all but forgotten about me. that's when I learned the only person you can rely on in this world is yourself. so I got out of there. flew the coop. got my first taste of freedom. it was glorious. ate what I Want, pooper where I want. but nothing lasts. next thing you know, I wind up here. life's just a series of cages. they only want us so long as they can contain us. cat: you took the words right out of my mouth. bird: penelope? That was the name my captors gave me. I go by the name of my own choosing now...princess sparkle.
